Three ways to engage.
01
Functional Safety Manager
Your ISO 26262 / ISO 13849 safety manager — without the full-time hire.
I take ownership of your functional safety program — safety plan, HARA, safety concepts, requirements, audits, and the safety case itself — a few days a week, from concept to release.
A defensible safety case for your automated driving system — built by someone who has already done it under ISO/TS 5083.
ISO/TS 5083:2025 is the new reference for ADS safety — and almost nobody has applied it on a real program yet. I have, on SAE L3-L4 autonomous truck validation at AstaZero.
When the tool your safety process needs doesn't exist — I build it.
Safety work dies in spreadsheets. I build the missing tool: requirement & evidence traceability apps, FMEDA/FTA automation, safety dashboards, and fault-injection simulations.
Also available: A-SPICE process compliance · FMEDA / FMEA / FTA / DFA analysis packages · ISO 26262 & ISO/TS 5083 training (on-site or remote) · Safety assessments & second-opinion reviews · SEooC development support
How I Work
From first call to safety case.
01
Intro Call
Your product, your standards exposure, and whether I can help — 30 minutes.
02
Assessment or Audit
A small fixed-scope start: gap analysis and a prioritized roadmap.
03
Delivery
Concepts, analyses, tooling, and the safety case — as retainer or project.
04
Handover
Documentation, source code where built, and training so it sticks.
Projects

Autonomous Truck Validation — Test Robot Safety
Supported safety activities for a Test Robot built at AstaZero to validate Autonomous Trucks by simulating the ADS. Defined safety concepts and validation strategies for the test equipment, managed evidence for its safety case, and performed vehicle dynamics and failure mode analysis on the test track. ISO/TS 5083 & ISO 13849 compliance for SAE L3-L4 testing equipment.
Designed and implemented a full-stack Requirement Management web app — using AI-assisted development — to enhance the safety process for the Test Robot's safety case and manage requirement traceability and evidence. Vanilla-JS SPA with a REST-native domain layer, Fastify 5 backend, PostgreSQL 16 (19 tables, append-only history, immutability triggers), JWE session auth (@auth/core + jose), and file uploads. Built end-to-end as solo engineer.
Built a simulation tool to compute Fault Tolerant Time Interval (FTTI) for vehicles on a closed proving ground, used to support safety concepts for the Test Robot validating Autonomous Trucks. Models vehicle dynamics and failure-response timing per ISO 26262.
Functional safety processes for the Red Dot Award-winning TA15 autonomous electric transport system. HARA, FTA, and compliance with ISO 26262 & ISO 13849.
Led Functional Safety Management for electric all-wheel-drive systems up to ASIL D. AURIX FMEDA, safety mechanism design, and progressive deployment safety checklists for German OEMs.
Supported EDU (Electric Drive Unit) development and functional safety for the Rimac Nevera — 1,914 PS (1,888 hp) electric hypercar with four independent motors. EDU developed to A-SPICE Level 2 and ASIL D, with torque vectoring safety integration.

Testimonials
What colleagues say.
Working with you was always a pleasure. You took and drove fully independently tasks over the last years and made the topics invisible, because no one had to take care of. Your analysis was a kind of a benchmark since I am working in the automotive area.
Michael Merk
Project Functional Safety Manager
Continental AG
Fearless to deal with complicated questions and start working without all details available, as a competent doer. A positive and diplomatic attitude which you share to the rest of the team. Absolutely recommended due to both social skills and high technical competence.
Christian Ohlin & Martin Nyström
Technical Project Leader & System Engineer
Volvo Construction Equipment
In the area of functional safety governed by standard ISO 13849 he has played an important role both when it comes to input into architectural discussions and development of the functional safety documentation. Catalin has shown passion for the tasks and delivered good results into the project.
Roberth Harju
Group Manager
Volvo Construction Equipment
I have always recognized you as the fixpoint, the stable point in the project, where no intensive care was required. FuSa was one of the few areas that did not cause headache. Thanks for your contribution, for being available (although officially out of the project) and for being reliable and authentic.

Engagements start small — an intro call, then an audit or assessment scoped in weeks, not months. Whether you need a functional safety manager, an ISO/TS 5083 safety case, or the tooling your safety process is missing, the first step is a conversation.
